06/02/07 Delavan Lake mostly cloudy 78 degrees. Winds 5-10, calm by dusk. H20 temps 70-73 degrees surface. We were blessed by mother nature tonight! With storms all around us we stayed dry and we caught fish. We fished along the main weed edge between 14 and 20 feet of water using mainly crawlers, leeches and fatheads. We ended up with 3 Northern pike on the fatheads with the largest being 26", 6 walleyes on leeches all undersize, 5 Largemouth bass on fatheads with the largest being 18 1/2", one out of 6 smallmouth on a crawler with 5 more caught using tube jigs with the largest being 19 1/2". The most productive depth tonight seemed to be in the 14-17 foot range.

05/31/07 Delavan Lake overcast 70 degrees. Winds 5-10 mph. H20 temps 70-74 degrees surface in the shallow bays we fished. We had an awesome day fishing topwater baits. We were catching many females which were almost all spawned out. We capitalized on the post-spawn feeding frenzy today endeding up with 16 Largemouth with the largest reaching 20 1/2". Chuggers seemed to work the best today. We fished 10 A.M. to 2 P.M.
05/30/07 Geneva Lake clear 80 degrees. Winds SSW 10-15 mph. H20 temps. 63-65 degrees surface. I had the opportunity to prefish for an upcoming show with Judy Nugent today from Outdoors Radio and Outdoor Wisconsin. We pursued smallies today only ending up with two for the books. Both were caught on suspening crankbaits in 10-12 feet of water. We fished strictly artificials today, but we may have had better luck with livebait. Judy had the chance to witness the healthy population of rock bass today. We were both quite suprised that rockbass will often hit a lure twice their size. We observed many fisherman out today only reeling in rockies, not much else.

05/29/07 Geneva Lake clear 82 degrees. Winds 5-15 mph. H20 temps 64-66 degrees surface. Fished 10-3 p.m. Caught 6 smallmouth with the biggest reaching 18" caught on drop shot rigs using senkos and gulp minnow grubs. Later in the day fish started to suspend 5-6 feet off the bottom, so crankbaits were the ticket to score 4 out of the six smallies. All were caught in the 10-15 foot range along the south and north shore on the flats, and near the Lake Geneva Country Club.

05/28/07 Delavan Lake Cludy early, clearing later A.M. 60 degrees. Winds light and variable. H20 temps main lake 60 degrees, shallow bays 62-64 degrees. We fished all artificials today with my client/friend Piero. Most fish were caught using Senkos and topwater baits. It was a slow start, but as the water warmed into the morning the action really heated up! We ended up catching 15 largemouth with largest reaching 18 3/4" all caught in water in the 2-5 foot range.
05/27/07 Geneva Lake overcast, clearing later 55 degrees. Winds 10-15 mph. H20 temps 58-62 degrees surface. We ended up with many nice perch caught in 10-12 feet of water using minnows in Cisco Bay. We also caught three nice largemouth in Williams Bay on the west side of the bay near piers using crawlers and shiners. Many largemouth are now in th 3-6 foot range. Many of the areas with sun exposure reached 60-64 degrees surface temp.
05/26/07 Geneva Lake rain/overcast 60 degrees. Winds 10-15 mph. H20 temps. 56-58 degrees surface. Fished 3:30-8:30 p.m. Caught around 30 or 40 perch in 8-10 feet of water on crawlers and minnows. Many rockbass, too much to count. One nice smallmouth along the south shore near Abbey Springs. One of my clients had a good fight with a largemouth in the 20" range, but lost him/her on the way in. I noticed many largemouth migrating into the shallows clearing beds.
05/20/07 Delavan Lake raining 45 degrees. Winds 10-15 mph. H20 temps 58-60 degrees surface. Fished between 15 and 35 feet of water. I ended up with a nice female largemouth full of spawn in 23 feet of water! I also ended up with a mess of nice gills caught in 25 feet of water suspended. Crawlers worked best today backtrolling into the wind and waves, at slower than slow speeds.

05/19/07 Geneva Lake Clera and cold 45 degrees in the A.M. warming to 70 degrees later in the day. Winds 10-20 mph, gusting 30. What a tough day on the water. We had some pretty big rollers to contend with today! As you can see the lens on the camera took on a little water also. We ended up with our share of rockies once again with a mess of nice perch in the 7-10" range. One of my clients from California caught a real nice 16" crappie, what a catch! We also ended up with a smallmouth caught on a medium roach. We fished between 8-18 feet of water using drop shot rigs with minnows, crawlers and artificials.
05/18/07 Geneva Lake partly cloudy 58 degrees. Winds 10-15 mph. H20 temps. 52-54 degrees. I had the chance to go fishing with one of my fellow guide friend today in his new Lund Pro Guide 2010. Certainly a nice ride and ample room! We fished 4-15 feet of water catching many rock bass using drop shot rigs with 4" senkos, and power minnows. We also ended up with a few nice smallmouth and a few bonus pike on chompers in 10-12 feet of water. The most productive area was around Maytag point and Geneva Bay.

05/17/07 Delavan Lake clear 70 degrees. Winds calm. H20 Temps. 61-62 degrees surface. We had a good time tonight. The walleyes were not cooperating like we wanted, but we caught a variety of fish. Most fish were caught along the weedline at 14-17 feet of water on crawlers and fatheads.
05/15/07 Geneva Lake raining 60 degrees. Winds light and variable. H20 Temps. 53-55 degrees. Caught many rock bass, pumpkinseeds and perch in the 8-15 foot range. Crappie minnows worked well. Caught a few perch on Cubby mini-mites.

Bring on the Warmth!

05/10/07 Delavan Lake Partly cloudy 75 degrees. Winds 5-10 mph, calm at dusk. H20 temps 70-75 dgrees in the shallow bays. 62 degrees in the main lake. Fished 4-9 P.M. I hit the jackpot tonight. I ended up with 35 Largemouth in about an hours time. All caught on topwater baits. Walk the dogs, poppers, chuggers it did not really matter. The faster you work the bait, the faster the fish hit it. Definitely a rare opportunity!

05/05/07 Delavan Lake overcast 55 degrees. Winds light and variable. Fished 12 midnight to 4 a.m. Trolled banana crankbaits in 15-17 FOW. Ended up with three walleyes all under legal size. We also caughta bonus 19 1/2" Smallmouth.

Delavan Lake Partly cloudy 60 degrees. Winds 10-20 MPH. Fished 4-10:30 P.M. Tough bite! Only one largemouth trolling.

Technical Difficulties!
