02/04/07 Geneva Lake sunny 25 degrees. Winds west/northwest 10-20 mph. Barometric pressure 30.03F. Ice thickness 12". I spent the last day of game fish season with my son. It took a little negotiation to get him out on such a blustery day. We went to one of the wrecks in 65 feet of water to chase down some rockies so he could have fun fighting some fish. After demonstrating to my son how to jig a spoon, he hooked one heck of a rockie! Well the way the fish was fighting we believe it was a lake trout. My son was a trooper and fought the fish for several minutes, then asked for me to take over the fight. It seemed to be a good size fish. On one of the power runs the fish took, it felt like it wrapped the line around an object. Sure enough the fight faded into a stout snag, then the line popped. I managed to get one picture of my son during the fight, unfortunately the lens on the camera was fogged up a little. We all have those fish swimming in our dreams and memories. I couldn't have spent my day any more meaningful, than to watch my son growing into a young fisherman. I hope all of you readers had a good season this year. I look forward to seeing you all on the water this spring! Good Luck.
